Celebrating Motherhood - The Magic in the Everyday
I thought I would introduce myself for those who haven't visited my blog. I'm Kathy and live in Brisbane, Australia and have two amazing teenagers. My passions are cooking and baking for my family, making sourdough bread, growing veggies and photography.
There’s a quote that sums up Motherhood, “The days are long but the years are short”.
Everyone photographs the big events like Holidays, Christmas, Easter, and Birthdays, however it’s the ordinary everyday life, the "in between” that’s where the magic is. Remembering my son’s first Lego creation or my daughter sleeping with her new Dora the Explorer shoes when she was 2 years old would have been a distant memory and perhaps forgotten had I not taken photos at the time.
I have documented our everyday lives since my kids were born, capturing their hobbies, favorite books, DVDs, toys, and so much more. From the first potatoes they grew in the garden to their school projects and beyond - knowing how fast time flies and cherishing every moment along the way.
It's incredibly important for Mothers to get in photos and document their lives with their kids. Getting in front of the camera may not always be the easiest thing for most mothers including myself. We tend to be our own worst critics, often thinking we don't look our best or worrying about being on the other side of the lens. But let me assure you, your children don't see those imperfections. They see the person they love unconditionally and who is always there for them. Years from now, when you and your children look back at those pictures, you'll be transported back to those precious moments in time. Your children will thank you for it in the years to come, and you'll be grateful for the visual reminders of the incredible journey of Motherhood.
Unbeknownst to some Mothers, whether they have a camera or just an iPhone, documenting our lives and getting in the photos preserves priceless memories of love. Everyday Motherhood, start documenting your story of the magic in the everyday.
